Mission
Ensure that the mental health needs of children, adolescents, and families are represented within MPA’s work and across Michigan. The committee advises the MPA Board and partners with state organizations, healthcare entities, and policymakers to improve systems of care for youth and families.

How This Committee Fulfills MPA’s Mission
- Expand education and training for psychologists who evaluate and treat children and adolescents.
- Connect clinicians and researchers statewide around pediatric behavioral health interests.
- Share timely updates on topics affecting children, adolescents, and families.
- Monitor legislation and advocate for policies that improve access and quality of youth mental healthcare.
- Cultivate relationships with psychologists engaged in policy work related to children and families.
Membership
Open to MPA members with interest or expertise in child, adolescent, and family mental health (e.g., clinical child/adolescent, developmental, pediatric/health, pediatric neuropsychology, research, and one graduate‑student liaison).
Current Priorities
- Advance advocacy that improves access to evidence‑based services for children and families.
- Build statewide referral and networking pathways for pediatric-focused psychologists.
- Offer member-facing education addressing high‑need pediatric topics and care coordination.
