The Michigan Psychological Association Foundation (MPAF) is organized primarily to receive and administer funds for educational and other charitable programs, to promote the public mental health welfare and to advance the science and profession of psychology for charitable, educational and scientific purposes. In the past several years, the Foundation has awarded dissertation grants to eligible doctoral students in Michigan and has sponsored a diversity poster competition for graduate students attending Michigan Universities.
To further the mission of MPAF, the Board of Directors has made a commitment to award doctoral dissertation scholarships to deserving students attending Michigan universities. DISSERTATION SCHOLARSHIP FUNDRAISER
The Michigan Psychological Association Foundation (MPAF) is seeking your help.
The MPAF is the philanthropic affiliate of the Michigan Psychological Association. Its purpose is primarily to receive and administer funds for educational and other charitable programs, to promote the public mental health welfare and to advance the science and profession of psychology for charitable, educational and scientific purposes.
As part of its mission, the Foundation seeks to improve the quality of mental health care in Michigan by generating greater diversity within the field of psychology. To this end, the Foundation has developed funds to award dissertation scholarships of $1000 to students from populations underrepresented in the field. Two scholarships have been awarded in past years: to Erin Smith from Wayne State University and to Carmelita Foster from Western Michigan University. Both students presented their research at MPA’s Spring Convention and were warmly received.
The Foundation seeks to continue and to expand our ability to offer financial support to students who will enrich the discipline with a diversity of perspectives. Contributions to the scholarship fundraiser may be made by sending a check to:
124 W. Allegan St.
Lansing, MI 48933
or by phoning in a credit card donation to the MPAF at 1-517-484-8800.
If you or someone you know is interested in joining our mission, please contact our Foundation president, Dr. Debra Smith, at firstname.lastname@example.org
The Foundation is operated by a volunteer board and staffed with support from the Michigan Psychological Association. Your contribution will be tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law. Thanks for considering supporting this important program.MPA Foundation Officers
