SUMMARY:
Dr. Christina Jagielski w
ill present on gastrointestinal psychology and discuss the many factors tha
t contribute to disorders of gut-brain interaction, communication strategie
s to help patients understand the role of the brain in GI functioning, and
evidence-based treatments to improve GI symptoms and GI quality of life. Th
e role of non-GI specific mental health providers for patients with GI cond
itions will also be discussed.
Participants will learn to identify at
least 3 factors that may contribute to the development or exacerbation of
GI symptoms, describe the primary treatments used in gut-brain psychotherap
ies, and identify strategies for GI-specific and non-GI specific mental hea
lth providers.
1 hour of free CE credit is available for
MPA members who attend this presentation.
This pres
entation accounts for one of the two CE credits needed for pain management
for license renewal.
